A review of h5r (1.2)


so much potential!

The original hdf5 library hasn't been maintained for quite a while and this has the potential to fill the gap. HDF5 data storage should be really useful to the research community, so I'm surprised there isn't more work on this. The documentation could really use a tutorial.

A few hard earned lessons: you need to remove the objects you create and then they will get written to the file. Or else you'll just get an non-supported file error. The library could be improved with better control of when the data gets written to the file. Even their documentation examples don't work because of the "write-on-destructor" paradigm.
