the power of SQL syntax within R

SQL is a simple but deceptively powerful language for querying structured data.

Many SQL operations like GROUP BY and JOIN, while possible to achieve with R's native syntax, are inelegant to express.

Gabor Grothendieck has built a package that achieves what many -- over the years on the R-help list -- have asked for: the ability to apply SQL queries to R data frames.

(In fact, this package is so useful I would argue it should be part of the R core).
